ABC Children's Aid was founded in 1988 as an Icelandic, interdenominational aid foundation.

The purpose is to provide destitude Children with long-term aid and act as an intermediary for the contributions of generous Icelanders and others which are used directly to help children in poor countries.

ABC Children's Aid now supports around 7000 children with the help from Icelandic and International fosterparents, mainly in India, Uganda, Philippines and Pakistan. In May of 2007 around 5000 sponsers are active in the programme.  Each Child has only one sponsor.
